When working with a compact space, increasing its size isn’t always an option—but making smarter use of what’s there certainly is. That’s exactly what our customers set out to do with their ensuite. The space had served them well over the years but was beginning to feel dated and lacked the storage they needed. With a clear vision to modernise the space, maximise storage, keep things light and airy, and introduce touches of blue, this project set out to prove that even compact rooms can deliver big impact. Working alongside Mike Friend of MF Plumbing and Heating we set about transforming the ensuite into a space that feels both stylish and functional. 

Below is a little snap shot as to what the ensuite looked like at the start. The dark wood framing around the vanity unit made the space feel a bit bottom-heavy, the mosaic accent strip was outdated (very mid-2010s style) and the grey tiles, although nice enough, felt a little flat without warmth or contrast.

The space has been transformed into to a beautiful and functional room with that ever so important storage issue being addressed. This ensuite now has a wonderfully polished, contemporary feel that ties every element together with real intention. The deep blue feature tiles, ‘Feathers Marine’ by Cifre, bring a bold, luxurious character to the shower area, adding texture and depth without overwhelming the space. A useful, niche area has been created in the shower, perfect for storing toiletries up off the shower floor. Complete with a contemporary drench showerhead and fixtures, this shower cubicle is the perfect space to unwind after a long day.

Across the room, the navy vanity and its warm under‑lighting create a calm, spa‑like atmosphere while offering practical storage through sleek, handle‑free drawers that keep clutter out of sight. Above this is a generously sized, illuminated mirrored unit, reflecting light around the room and offering more storage. The unit is framed by a feature tile, “Grasmere Lunar Decor” by Novabell, with a subtle peaked texture adding that little bit extra when the room is entered and the remainder of the walls are tiled from floor to ceiling with “Grasmere Lunar”.

The blue star patterned floor tiles add personality and movement, balancing the modern lines with something a little more playful. With its clean fixtures, thoughtful lighting, and cohesive colour palette, the whole room feels fresh, stylish, and effortlessly inviting.
